KIRO® Oncology

Evaluation of the efficacy of a self-cleaning automated compounding system for the decontamination of cytotoxic drugs(25)

Two dilutions (0,6mg/mL and 60 mg/mL) of 9 different cytotoxic drugs *1 per dilution were added to the KIRO® Oncology’s compounding area surface.

The dilutions correspond to two levels of surface contamination D1 (1ng/cm2) and D100 (100ng/cm2).

Contamination levels were determined, with a surface wipe sampling kit.

Six days over a three-week period in an oncology health center.

This study demonstrated that KIRO® Oncology self-cleaning system:

Has a decontamination efficacy of 99.8% or greater for nine cytotoxic drugs*1 commonly used.

Is an effective unique solution for avoiding daily manual cleaning tasks of a compounding robot.

*1Cytotxic drugs commonly used: 5-flurorouracil, ifosfamide, cyclophosphamide, gemcitabine, etoposide, methotrexate, paclitaxel, docetaxel and carboplatin
